Election workers are chosen from lists submitted by the political parties.

Election Worker Positions: 

Presiding Judge (compensated) - in charge of the polling place, facilitates and protects the integrity of the voting process.

Alternate Presiding Judge (compensated) - performs duties as directed by the Presiding Judge. Alternate PJ is chosen from the opposite political party of the PJ.

​

Election Clerk- shall perform duties as directed by the Presiding and Alternate Presiding Judge. There are usually 2 clerks chosen.  Student election clerks are also accepted.

​

Ballot Board (for mail-in ballots) - made up of an equal number of Republicans and Democrats who determine the validity of the mail in ballots.

​

​Time commitment will be determined by which position you accept. If you are an early voting clerk or serve on the Ballot Board, it may be as much as three weeks. If you serve only on Election Day, it will be only the one day.

​The amount of time for training will be determined by the County Clerk's election department in conjunction with training done by the political parties.

​

​Poll watchers may represent candidates, political parties, PACs... You must have a Certificate of Appointment.  Poll watchers are not compensated and be at the polling place at least five Consecutive hours.
